Driver impaired by drugs arrested in Bay Roberts

BAY ROBERTS, N.L. —

A suspected drug-impaired driver was taken off the road and arrested Friday in Bay Roberts.

According to a news release, Bay Roberts RCMP received a tip about an erratic driver spotted in Clarke’s Beach. Police pulled the suspect’s vehicle over in Bay Roberts.

A drug recognition evaluation was conducted and the 64-year-old woman was arrested and charged for drug-impaired driving.

The woman’s vehicle was seized and impounded and her licence suspended. Her first court date is June 19.

In the release, Bay Roberts RCMP said it has training and technology to deal with drug-impaired driving and would encourage the public to report drivers who may be impaired.
