Holyrood man charged with impaired driving after single-vehicle collision

WHITBOURNE, N.L. —

A man from Holyrood allegedly provided breath samples that were three times over the legal limit after police picked him up at the scene of a single-vehicle crash.

At approximately 2:40 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 2, Whitbourne and Placentia RCMP responded to single-vehicle collision in the area of Mackinsons and the TCH.

The lone occupant and driver, a 53-year-old man from Holyrood, was found to be impaired by alcohol. He was arrested and taken back to the Whitbourne detachment, where he provided breath samples that were three times over the legal limit.

The man’s driver’s license was suspended and the vehicle was impounded. He was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court on a later date to face charges of impaired driving.
