CARBONEAR, NL – If you happen to see a large presence of first responders in the parking lot at Carbonear Collegiate this Friday afternoon, May 18, don't be alarmed.

The school, along with the Trinity Conception Crime Prevention Committee, the Harbour Grace RCMP, RCMP Traffic Services, Carbonear Fire Department, Slade’s Funeral Home and Moore Ambulance, are coming together to hold a mock collision.

The collision will be fake, but the message it aims to drive home is real.

The event, being held during Canada Road Safety Week, hopes to show students the dangers of distracted driving. An assembly to discuss road safety will follow.
