N.L. Premier Dwight Ball headed to NYC to see ‘Come From Away’ on Broadway

It’s the show everyone wants to see, including Dwight Ball.

The Newfoundland and Labrador premier will get his chance on Saturday when he takes in a performance of “Come From Away” at Broadway’s Gerald Schoenfeld Theatre in New York City.

In a news release Friday, Ball said he’s looking forward to the show.

The smash hit musical, which tells the true story of how 7,000 stranded airplane passengers were took in by residents of Gander and the surrounding area during the Sept. 11, 2001 terror attacks, is up for seven Tony Award this weekend, including Best Musical.

“Newfoundland and Labrador is a rare find. People from all over the globe travel to our beautiful province to experience everything that makes us truly unique,” Ball said.

“These characteristics were highlighted following the events of 9/11 and this story is now being told on Broadway. We are incredibly proud of this story which is helping to create greater awareness of what makes our province so special.”

Ball said he will be waiting with anticipation to learn the Tony winners and wished good luck to everyone involved in the production.

The Tony Awards will air live on Sunday at 9:30 p.m. NST on CBS.
