Officers from the Bay Roberts RCMP detachment were called in to help rescue a 15-year-old boy from near the Mad Rocks area near Bay Roberts on Sunday evening.
The boy has been hiking about one kilometre off the marked trailed when he and suffered a foot injury and was unable to walk out on his own. He was removed from the wooded area with the assistance of the Avalon North Wolverines Search and Rescue.
He was treated at Carbonear General Hospital and later released.
The RCMP urges citizens to use caution and be prepared when hiking, particularly in areas away from the marked trails.
