Marystown man arrested on firearms charges

MARYSTOWN, N.L. —

A 72-year-old Marystown man will appear in provincial court in Grand Bank on firearms charges.

According to a news release, Burin Peninsula RCMP received a report indicating a man driving what was described as a Black Ford Ranger truck had pointed what was believed to be a handgun at two youth riding bicycles in the town on Wednesday, July 31.

Police were provided a licence plate number and a 72-year-old from Marystown man was identified. A search warrant was issued for his residence. 

Several unsecured firearms were allegedly discovered, in addition to two handgun style airsoft pistols. The man was arrested and released on conditions. He faces charges of pointing a firearm, using an imitation of a firearm in the commission of an offence and unsafe storage of firearms.
