LETTER: Businesses miss out on tourism season by closing early

I've had family visiting from the U.S.A. for a few days and as they're from here originally they wanted to renew experiences had previously.

We went to Brigus on a Wednesday afternoon to view the tunnel and Wilcox Gardens. When we were hoping to get a meal around 7 o'clock, nothing opened.

We even had to go to a B&B to use the bathroom, and I thank the lady at The Brittoner for this privilege. The local available facilities were not desirable to use.

Then in Harbour Grace on a Friday evening after viewing some of our wonderful historical attractions, we were looking forward to chips, dressing and gravy, but again, nothing opened after 8 p.m.

This is prime tourist time folks, middle of July, lovely long evenings, hungry people out sight seeing all day. Tourism is our industry and needs locally all of the support we can give.
