Driving Miss Daisy may be hazardous to your health.

I’m a lover of pet dogs. I’ve had two best friends in my life, but unfortunately, both had to be euthanized due to incurable diseases. To this day I miss my pals but still have fond memories of our time together. They were Ace and Jake.

Here’s a message from your dog: please don’t drive with me in your lap. It’s very dangerous.

My message is for the numerous pet dogs that are not secured in vehicles. I’m giving a voice to all the passengers that have little protection and have no say on how they’re riding along with their “moms” or “dads.” Oh, come on — how many times have you said, “Come to Mom, my baby”?

Here’s a message from your dog: please don’t drive with me in your lap. It’s very dangerous. I could accidentally activate any control on the steering wheel or dash (wipers, signals, or even shift gears). Even worse, I could obstruct your view of oncoming traffic. You know I have a mind of my own and I don’t even know what I’m going to do next.

Imagine me hanging out the window — I love it! But what if insects or flying debris hits my eyes? Imagine the vet bills. Motorcyclists can vouch for this one. If it wasn’t for face shields/ goggles, eye damage would be a serious concern.

Also, what if you brake suddenly? I could be thrown around violently and have severe injuries; or worse still — my head out the window. I could be thrown out into traffic or have neck injuries. I know you love me, but please consider what might happen. When you and your children get into the car, you buckle up right away. Why not me?

From one dog lover to another, please consider the safety of your baby. Have them under control at all times in your vehicle.
