For the first time in several years, Carbonear Collegiate’s senior boys basketball team has booked itself a spot at provincials.

The senior Sentinels squad swept a best-of-three series against Clarenville High School to win the School Sports Newfoundland and Labrador AAA regional qualifier. Carbonear won the first game in Clarenville Monday, March 4, by a score of 60-30 and reproduced that result with an identical 60-30 score in a home game played Wednesday, March 6. Grade 12 student Dylan Pike was named tournament MVP.

The SSNL AAA provincial tournament takes place in Stephenville March 22-24. In February, Carbonear Collegiate went undefeated at the St. Caterine’s Invitational Tournament, winning the championship game in thrilling fashion over Fatima Academy by a score of 69-68.
