CARBONEAR, N.L. —

Members of the Poseidon Swim Club of Carbonear gathered at the Stone Jug on Wednesday, June 12, for the team's annual year-end banquet.
During the event, several swimmers were recognized for achievements reached during the 2018-19 season. The previous weekend, several swimmers competed at the final meet of the season in Newfoundland and Labrador, the 2019 Summer Classic that was jointly hosted at pools in Mount Pearl and St. John's.
Kendra Slade earned a second top achiever award in the female 10-and-under age category at the meet, which was held June 7-9. Most swimmers from Poseidon earned personal-best times and a few received gold, silver and bronze medals. Those medal winners included Slade, Noah Coombs, Jayden Pike and Sarah Burt.
Five members of the team are not quite done with swimming for the season. Burt, Slade, Mackenzie Sutton, Rylee Moores and Rhiannon Sellars are scheduled to compete at the Atlantic Cup event in Saint John, New Brunswick from July 4-7.
