An annual event that's now 12-years-strong recently took place in Carbonear.

The World Cup of Tiddly celebrates a sport that might be obscure to some in Newfoundland and Labrador, depending on where they grew up. In the Carbonear area, tiddly was once a common game for children to play. The game involves hitting one stick with another stick into a playing field.

As part of Carbonear Days, the 12th annual World Cup of Tiddly took place Sunday, Aug. 4, featuring 10 teams in all. The weather was sunny  and a good time was had by those who either played or took in the games as spectators. The men's champions were Charcoal Pots and London Road Ladies claimed the women's title.
