BAY ROBERTS, N.L.

The Conception Bay North Badminton Club is preparing for a busy 2018-19 season, with hopes of competing in close to a dozen tournaments.

According to head coach Pierre LeGresley, the high-performance program continues to grow with close to 30 members ages 10-17. He said the goal this season is for the club to compete in three-to-four tournaments across Newfoundland and Labrador, plus five-to-eight regional events.

LeGresley believes that in two or three years, the club could look at travelling for national or international events.

The group presents monthly awards to the best male and female players, plus a special under-12 monthly award, as well as year-end honours.

Next March, the club will host the second annual Badminton Newfoundland and Labrador Baccalieu Trail Junior Open. That event takes place March 2 at Holy Redeemer Elementary in Spaniard’s Bay.
