Canada’s national women’s under-18 team, with a roster that includes forward Shailynn Snow, plays its second game of the world women’s U18 championship early Newfoundland time this morning, taking on the archrival United States in Obihiro, Japan.

The Canadians opened the tournament with a 2-1 win over Sweden Saturday in a game that saw Snow and her teammates dominate, but which was kept close because of the work of Swedish netminder Tindra Holm.

The 17-year-old Snow, who is from Clarke’s Beach, is captain of her team at Ridley College, an Ontario prep school. She’s committed to play for NCAA Division One St. Lawrence University, beginning this fall.
