George Santos: The Crook in Congress | above ground

Jorge Santos has now been accused again in a Facebook post of making a crude joke about Hitler and killing Jews and black people – marking the latest scandal to hit the newly elected Congress.

In a 2011 comment on Facebook obtained by Patch, Mr Santos wrote: “hiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiitlerrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr (Heide Hitler) lololololololololololololol sombody will kill her!! Jews and blacks mostly lollolol!!! Dum.”

A former roommate of Mr Santos confirmed the validity of the store’s account and said the congressman often made anti-Semitic remarks. Mr Santos’ lawyer told Patch the Facebook post was “absolutely false”.

The allegation comes after the congressman was previously caught lying about being Jewish and his grandparents fleeing the Holocaust. He later retracted the claims saying he was “Jewish”.

Mr Santos, who was exposed for making a series of lies during his campaign, is under scrutiny over an amended financial disclosure form he filed with the FEC this week. For starters, there are two loans – $500,000 and $125,000 – that have not been identified as coming from Mr Santos’ personal funds.

The treasurer named in George Santos’ campaign says he’s not working for him

Another headache is coming for George Santos, thanks to redacted records submitted to the FEC this week.

The embattled New York congressman already faced calls for his resignation or ouster — from both parties — ahead of his filing with the Federal Election Commission this week. Now, those filings are becoming the source of problem after problem, each with the potential to violate the law.

The latest issue, flagged by reporters with ABC News on Thursday, stems from several fundraising groups working on behalf of the Santos 2022 campaign filings with the agency indicating a change in the person appointed as treasurer to the committees. Those groups are now listed as overseeing their financial operations by Thomas Datewiler, a longtime expert on political campaign finances.

But there’s just one problem: Mr. Datewiler adamantly told ABC News that Santos was not working for the campaign, and had in fact told them that before the FEC filing was submitted.

Santos’ FEC filing draws new questions

Jorge Santos filed a revised financial disclosure form with the FEC on Tuesday, minutes after reporters and election law experts noticed some glaring issues. For starters, there are two loans – $500,000 and $125,000 – that have not been identified as coming from Mr Santos’ personal funds.

And then there’s the oddly high number of donations under the $200 threshold — which immediately raises questions about their legitimacy.

As the story of his visit to Washington continues, the New York congressman seems to have another set of questions to answer.

George Santos media tries to ‘vilify me’

Jorge Santos took to Twitter to say the media was trying to “smear” him as he attacked what he called “fake posts” and “clown” interviews.

“From interviewing clowns to creating fake “recordings” the media continues to spin as their attempt to defame me fails. While you all get out of control, I finish the job I signed up for,” he tweeted late Thursday.

He did not elaborate on what he was referring to, but his comments came as Patch’s new report accused him of mocking Hitler and killing Jews and black people.

In George Santos’s district, the backdrop of The Great Gatsby, the cries of the ‘impostor’ abound.

Long Island’s Gold Coast is known to many as the setting for a story about a fictional character who creates fantastic stories about his past and climbs the ranks of New York’s high society in a relentless search for his will.

I am of course talking about Jorge Santos.

Almost 100 years after the F Scott Fitzgerald collection The Great Gatsby On this same opulent beach, the 34-year-old Republican congressman once again drew the world’s eyes to New York City’s eastward-stretching leg, drawing comparisons to the titular character of that Great American novel.

Where Jay Gatsby failed in his endeavors, Santos succeeded. From claiming his mother died on 9/11 to falsifying his education and net worth, a man who repeatedly lied about his own history — not for love, but for donations, votes and influence — was elected to a seat. World’s most powerful legislative bodies.

So, how did he do it? How did he deceive so many people? How come no one knows? The truth is, many did. But no one listened to them.
